Favorite NRPS show was at the Rex Foundation Benefit Show 2007 held at the Society for the Ethical Treatment of Culture on NY's Central Park West. The band was just hitting full stride on its "Renaissance Tour" and sounding great. I think it is safe to say that the crowd was blown away by how tight the band sounded and the sweet smell- I mean sounds of the NRPS in the air.

Thanks Buddy for your thoughts. So sad to think we won't hear John's seet voice again. So many good times listening. First heard the NRPS in 73 with the Powerglide LP, and saw them whenever I could when you played in the SF area. Thanks for taking up the band again with David. See you everytime at the Mystic. I guess now there is a quorum for the angel band NRPS with Jerry, Marmaduke, Dave Torbert, and Spencer playing. Take care.

I enjoyed reading the blog posting about the early years of the steel guitar convention in St. Louis. Inspired by Buddy Cage and taught by Scotty himself, I played a pedal steel for about ten years, from the mid-70s to mid-80s. Eventually my life and career went in other directions, and a steel guitar is an instrument that you have to use or lose. But I still look back fondly on that accomplishment and still admire the greats of the craft. In those days, many of the so-called country rock or southern rock bands gave the steel guitar new definition and expanded its horizons beyond strictly an instrument heard in C&W music.
Once, the NRPS played a large concert hall in St. Louis, and the next night were playing a small dance club on Lacede's Landing on the Mississippi River. During a break, I walked right up to Buddy Cage and we talked for about ten minutes about the steel guitar. It was a thrill. Keep on rockin', Buddy.
